With Eddie Howe now in place and the January transfer window edging closer, The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards has named five realistic signings the club could target in the new year.
The first is James Tarkowski, who has just six months left on his contract at Burnley and a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ that he can leave if the club’s asking price is matched.
Next up are a pair of attacking midfielders struggling for game time at ‘big six’ sides in Jesse Lingard (Man Utd) and Ross Barkley (Chelsea).
Edwards – who reckons we have £50m to spend in January – believes a loan move for Barkley would appeal to Howe, while Lingard could be available on a permanent deal should his game time at Old Trafford remain so limited.
Spurs midfielder Harry Winks is then mentioned. He needs a move after falling down the pecking order at Tottenham and is a player Howe showed interest in during his time at Bournemouth, according to reports.
Last but certainly not least, The Telegraph claim that Kieran Trippier – who was signed by Howe during his Burnley days – is very keen on a return to the Premier League, although would not be cheap if we were to make a move for the Atletico Madrid full-back.
If all five were available and there was £50m to spend, would you like to see any of the above arrive in January?
I’d take all five if you could get them. I would take Barkley and Lingard as loans initially. In addition I’d be looking for another striker as Wilson is our only strike threat. If he gets injured we would be struggling especially at the business end of the season
