Some big claims have arrived from North-East reporter Liam Kennedy this morning.
In his latest ‘exclusive’ for Newcastle World, the former Shields Gazette journalist claims that the club have entered talks with Bayern Munich defender Niklas Sule.
The giant German international is out of contract at the end of the season, meaning he could leave Bayern on a cut-price fee in January if he fails to agree a new deal with the Bundesliga side.
Kennedy reports that the 6ft 5′ centre-back is ‘open’ to the idea of signing at St James’ Park – despite the fact he’s been playing regular Champions League football under Julian Nagelsmann.
Personally, I struggle to see how he’d be happy to swap regular Champions League football under Julian Nagelsmann for a relegation battle on Tyneside, however money does talk – and it seems Bayern aren’t agreeing to his £8m-per-year contract demands.
Either way, it would make plenty sense for our new owners to target top players who are entering the final six months of their current deals. While many wait for them to become free agents next summer, we may feel a cut-price deal can be agreed in January.
Best to take this one with a pinch of salt for now, but it’d be some statement if we could bring Sule to St James’ Park!
The players agent has already dismissed this as paper talk a couple of days ago. Liam Kennedy a bit slow with his copy paste article this time..

Could be his agent, stirring to try to get Bayern to meet wage demads.
