NUFC release footage of Eddie Howe’s first training session on Tyneside & official pictures

His appointment was confirmed yesterday, but Newcastle United fans have been made to wait for the first official pictures of Eddie Howe on Tyneside.

Sky Sports News captured a short video of the new boss arriving at the club’s Benton base at around 6.45am this morning, however the club have now released photos of his first training session – along with a short clip of him in action.

As shared by NUFC’s Twitter page in the last few moments, the 43-year-old can be seen putting Allan Saint-Maximin through his paces on Tuesday, with Joe Willock also featuring in the four images released so far.

The club have also shared a 36-second video of Howe at work, showing him go through a drill with the likes of Shelvey, Joelinton, Willock and Saint-Maximin.

See all of the above below:

It’s very interesting to hear Howe talk about “creating space”, with him also encouraging his players to stop standing still and increase their movement while we have possession.

Missing from the session will be Martin Dubravka, Fabian Schar, Miguel Almiron, Jeff Hendrick, Emil Krafth, Jamal Lewis and Elliot Anderson, with all seven away on international duty over the next week.

Ryan Fraser is also likely to have missed out, as he was forced to withdraw from Scotland’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers just yesterday.

Great to see him in early and out on the grass as we prepare for next Saturday’s crucial clash with Brentford at St James’ Park.

Howe-ay the lads!

It’s going to be a massive shock to the system for some of the slackers we have in our squad I’m loving Howe already.
Nice to have a real coach in charge the first time in 14 years.
