Amanda Staveley’s three-word message to Eddie Howe when posing for pictures at SJP

The Chronicle have revealed what Amanda Staveley said to Eddie Howe when posing for pictures at St James’ Park yesterday.

As her, Mehrdad Ghodoussi – her husband and fellow board member – and our new head coach stood on the pitch in front of the local press, Staveley turned to Howe and said – “We’re so proud.”

A small message that may seem insignificant to some, yet another moment to show just how much this means to her after years of work behind the scenes to secure this club.

Here’s a snippet from The Chronicle’s piece on yesterday’s unveiling on Tyneside:

As Howe was unveiled on the hallowed turf with Amanda Staveley and her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi, the Ripon financier simply said to the former AFC Bournemouth boss: “We’re so proud”.

This new-look Newcastle United is starting to take shape, with Mike Ashley gone, Steve Bruce sacked and a meticulous and supremely motivated long-term replacement now in place, however there is a LOT of work to be done before we can start getting carried away.

Howe had this to say on Wednesday when asked about his initial conversations with the new owners:

So, he’s impressed by the ambitious plans in place and their vision for the club, but is quite right to remain grounded while we remain 19th in the table and embroiled in a relegation battle.

After saying all the right things over the past 48 hours, here’s hoping Howe can make us proud – starting with a much needed win over Brentford next weekend!

  1. Even if Eddie doesn’t get us a win against Brentford he’s still the man for Newcastle. It’s still the same players so realistically the same results. Think we’ll be mid table by Xmas, Eddie is a winner.

  2. I note the Daily Mail a London based rag is so anti Newcastle with it’s articles it is unbelievable!
Every article is trying to destroy or criticising the progress that we are making.
I hope it makes everyone players and the owners even more determined to succeed !

  3. It must be terrible being a bloke.
Amanda just has to flutter her eyelashes at you and you all crumble at the knees.
To now the whole thing has just been a PR exercise.

What have we actually achieved so far? A complete balls up with the sacking of Bruce. Same with the hiring of a manager and the employment of a DoF.

What is interesting is that they have already come out and said “if we make mistakes we have to correct them”. Something tells me there are a few more mistakes coming down the road.

All that has been achieved so far is that we have appointed a manager who was unemployed and was millions cheaper than the other ones that were bandied about. And how long did it take?

Personally I’m withholding judgement until Howe gets a few games under his belt, and then we see how the consortium support him in January.
PIF will buy the first player, then Al Rumayyan will turn to the Rubens and say “your round!”
    And then to PCP.

Too many people are being suckered in by the blonde bimbo.
    It’s PR. She’s playing us.

She’s playing us the same way that Rafa did except he was a bit fatter and had bigger breasts!

Let’s just hope she gets better results than the buxom Spaniard.
