Eddie Howe is interested in bringing Tyrone Mings to Newcastle United in January, according to Marca.
The report claims that Howe has been impressed by the 28-year-old’s development at Aston Villa, believing he is the sort of ‘defensive leader’ who could improve our leaky back line.
Mings was signed by Howe during his time at Bournemouth, completing an £8m move from Ipswich Town back in 2015.
He initially arrived at the Cherries as a left-back, but was soon moved to the centre of defence – which was no real surprise given his huge 6ft 4′ frame.
His game time on the South Coast was actually quite limited, with him playing just 23 times under Howe, however it’s believed our new head coach is a big admirer of the current Villa captain – who is now a regular in Gareth Southgate’s England squads.
Is this the papers putting two and two together or could there be genuine interest? It’s certainly an easy story to run given his links to Howe and our need for a new centre-back…
Would you like to see us make a move for Mings?
Absolute garbage you really think that Gerrard will let Mings go which planet are you on.

I know Newcastle have a lot of money now, but imagine how much it would actually take to sign Mings. He was £30m two years ago, and that was before he’d played Premier League football regularly and played for England.
What a nonsense story.

I would sell him in a flash. No better than calamity Lasscelles

Mings, mistake after mistake.
He’d fit in well with with the current flops. Don’t waste money Eddie and please, don’t bring all the relegation team from Bournemouth.
Ritchie has been a good servant, Wilson too.
Fraser had problems with Bruce, yourself also. We’ve had so many that came to NUFC for a well paid rest, enough is enough.
As for the current crop, get that unfit bunch onto the sand dunes at Druridge Bay for a week, and double that time for pre season.

Never in a million years will Villa let him leave, plus if rumours are to believed the entire Premier League have a secret agreement between each other to refuse to do any transfer business with us in the hope we can’t strengthen enough to avoid relegation. I have to say this kind of rumour is exactly the way I could see the other clubs behaving following their failure to stop the takeover. So chances are all our Jan signings are most likely from abroad.
