Toon talent scores 45-yard wondergoal – One to watch after 13 goals in 12 games?

Michael Ndiweni is a name few Newcastle United fans will know, however it may not be long until he’s being talked about on Tyneside.

The 17-year-old ended the 2020/21 season in superb form, bagging five goals and an assist in our final four games at U18 level.

He’s then taken that form into the new season, scoring seven goals in seven games – an impressive feat in a struggling U18s side who’ve won just twice this season and been on the end of several hammerings.

As a result, he received his first call-up to our U23 side earlier this week, coming off the bench and scoring in a 6-3 defeat to Mansfield in the EFL Trophy to take his tally for the season up to eight.

One of those eight goals was an absolute stunner, with him producing this moment of magic in a 2-2 draw with Man City earlier this month:

So, based on his stunning end to 2020/21 and equally impressive start to the new season, he’s now bagged 13 goals in his last 12 goals across U18 and U23 levels.

Along with the likes of Elliot Anderson, Joe White and Dylan Stephenson – who already has 10 goals for our U23s this season – Ndiweni looks like one to watch over the comings years.

Here’s a few more clips of the in-form attacker in action:

  1. What happened to that stocky striker from non-league who was hitting the headlines with us only a few weeks ago?
