Newcastle ‘offered’ the chance to sign France international in January – Report

Newcastle United have been offered the chance to sign French midfielder Adrien Rabiot, according to reports in Italy.

This comes from Calciomercato.it, who claim that Juventus are ready to move the 26-year-old on in the new year and believe we could be interested in doing a deal.

This isn’t the first time the former PSG star has been tipped to arrive on Tyneside over the past week or two, with Corriere dello Sport reporting last Friday that we have emerged as a ‘concrete’ option for Rabiot.

That said, Calciomercato state that there is some ‘pessimism’ around his potential arrival at St James’ Park, mainly due to the ‘lack of clarity’ surrounding our plans as we wait for a director of football to be appointed ahead of the January transfer window.

This latest link may be wide of the mark, but it is fair to wonder how transfer plans can progress at present if our new owners and new head coach are waiting until a director of football is in place to oversee potential incomings.

As for Rabiot himself, he was highly-rated just a few years ago, but has been in and out of the Juventus team since arriving from Paris on a free transfer back in 2019.

  1. Rabiot is a good player. If we are going to have one “luxury” player in the team I would rather it be him than Shelvey.

  2. Mother is the agent. Complete utter nightmare. Was involved in a massive scandal over the euros when she had a go at teammates attitude while sitting next their families during the game. Failed at Man City, PSG and now Juve. Thanks but no thanks. Nufc do not do drama anymore.
