NUFC now understood to be weighing up a move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder – Report

Newcastle are said to be weighing up a move for Belgian international Axel Witsel.

Liam Kennedy’s latest ‘exclusive’ for Newcastle World claims that the midfielder is on our radar ahead of the January transfer window, with him set to be made available by current club Borussia Dortmund.

The 32-year-old has played 18 times in all competitions for the Bundesliga side this season, but with him out of contract next summer it seems the German giants could sell him for a free in January before he leaves for nothing at the end of the season.

Bolstering our midfield options is said to be one of Eddie Howe’s top priorities in January, so it’s easy to see why we’ve been alerted by Witsel’s availability.

Interestingly, the piece also reveals that he’s someone current assistant Graeme Jones knows from his time with the Belgium squad.

Juventus are also believed to be ‘keeping tabs’ on the former Benfica star, however a move to St James’ Park might just appeal if he wants to join a few of his international teammates in the Premier League.
