Newcastle United will make an ambitious bid to sign Fiorentina star Dusan Vlahovic in January, according to Alan Nixon’s.
The senior journalist at The Sun claims that Eddie Howe wants to bring in FIVE new signings in the new year, with two full-backs, a centre-back, midfielder and striker set to be targeted.
Nixon states that Toon scouts have watched the 21-year-old on several occasions this season, being present to watch him help his country qualify for next year’s World Cup via a surprise win over Portugal.
Vlahovic has scored an outstanding 12 goals in 14 games in all competitions this season, with this coming after he bagged an impressive 21 goals in 37 Serie A appearances last term.
The broad-shouldered striker stands 6ft 3′ tall and has seen his style of play compared to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, being a 6ft 3′ forward with good feat and superb technique for his size.
The report states that we are looking abroad for potential star signings, as several Premier League clubs are reluctant to do business with us.
We would do VERY well to bring one of Europe’s most highly-rated young strikers to the club while in the midst of a relegation scrap, but money talks and several sides in Italy are short of exactly that following the recent pandemic.
Sadly, this feels like a non starter in the position we’re in at present, even if this is the sort of ambition we’d love to see from the new owners!
