Steve Bruce tells The Athletic he wants Man Utd job – ‘Believes’ he can solve big problem

Steve Bruce believes he could be the man to help steady the ship at Man Utd following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, according to The Athletic.

Andy Mitten – one of their chief writers for all things Manchester United – claims that the former NUFC boss is ‘very keen’ on the job and has put himself forward to take charge until the end of the season.

The Solskjaer experiment came to a brutal end yesterday when the Red Devil’s finally decided that enough was enough and parted ways with their club legend after almost three years at the wheel.

Now former Toon boss Bruce, an Old Trafford legend in his own right, thinks he would “stabilise the dressing room” on an interim basis, as per The Athletic this morning.

Here’s a snippet from Andy Mitten’s piece:

‘The Athletic also understands former United captain Steve Bruce, recently let go by Newcastle, would be very keen on the role, and believes he could help stabilise the dressing room.

Man Utd are keen to bring in a short-term manager until the end of the season, with Sky Sports making Mauricio Pochettino the front runner to take over the reins in the summer.

It would be hilarious to see how someone like Bruce would handle superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Raphael Varane.

His reputation on a national level doesn’t appear to have been dented too much from his time at Newcastle, with friends in the media ignorantly praising his time on Tyneside.

The pressure would be off, too, as everyone knows he would simply be a stopgap until a long-term appointment was made.

I may be wrong here, but this report seems like Bruce’s agent – or Bruce himself – has simply put the feelers out to the media that he would be interested if the offer came along.

Who could blame him, either. If the chance to date Shakira was up for grabs… I’d be willing to throw my hat in the ring as well!
