Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie is a January option for Newcastle United, according to a new report.
The Mail’s Simon Jones claims that the USA international a player ‘under consideration’ at St James’ Park, stating that the Serie A giants are ‘open’ to letting him leave on an initial loan deal.
The 23-year-old can play anywhere across midfield, but generally operates in a box-to-box role.
He spent last season on loan at Juventus and went on to complete a permanent move to Italy over the summer, joining from Schalke for £18m.
Having started four of their last five league games – and scoring in two of them – it’s surprising to here he could be allowed to leave on loan in January.
However, The Times did report last week that we were taking a close look at the Italian market – perhaps due to the fact several Premier League club are reluctant to do business with us – so perhaps there’s some truth in this latest link.
