A few days ago, we put out a post on Twitter asking fellow fans to name one REALISTIC signing they’d like to see us make in January.
We received almost 200 responses and a theme definitely emerged from those, with these a few names proving very popular.
Here’s the seven that kept on coming up:
- James Tarkowski (Burnley)
- Jesse Lingard (Man Utd)
- Kieran Trippier (Atletico Madrid)
- Nathan Ake (Man City)
- Conor Coady (Wolves)
- Dony van de Beek (Man Utd)
- Aaron Ramsey (Juventus)
Interesting that all of the above are either currently in the Premier League or players with vast experience in English football who could make an immediate impact should they return.
That will be key when it comes to January, with us needing players for NOW, not next season, in our fight for survival. The issue is, it seems several Premier League clubs want to see us go down following the Saudi takeover and could refuse to do business with us in the new year as a result.
With that in mind, we may be forced to shop in Europe, making Marseille’s Boubacar Kamara, Barcelona’s Phillipe Coutinho, Bayern contract rebel Niklas Sule and out of favour Ajax winger David Neres a few intriguing shouts.
We’re playing fantasy football at this point and have no idea how things will pan out when the winter window comes around, but it is nice to feel slightly more hopeful about our January business – even if it may make or break our bid to stay up!
I don’t see Coady or VDB – but the rest I think could come off – though Lingard is most likely WHU.
I’d love to see Tarkowski, Ake and Trip in our back 4 though.

Each one of y’all, would like to be in the cat bird seat, however for the time being we can use the shop window of the rest of the continents ho play football.
Africa-aAsia-South and North Americaand of course Europe, English premier clubs is that what you want, it’s a large step for pure jealousy alone.
