Mehrdad Ghodoussi has played thrown cold water on claims Michael Emenalo has rejected the chance to become the club’s new Director of Football.
The Telegraph released an ‘exclusive’ yesterday claiming that the former Chelsea chief had turned down an offer from our new owners, with the report stating that we were unable to match his ‘ambitious plans’ for the club.
Ghodoussi – a Newcastle United board member and husband to Amanda Staveley – has now responded to those claims, insisting that the 56-year-old was never actually offered the role!
Here’s what he’s had to say in a message to Toon fans on Twitter on Sunday afternoon:
So, it makes you wonder if Emenalo has been telling porkies to The Telegraph!
Perhaps all the noise around his potential arrival has been coming from the Nigerian himself?
Either way, it’s great to see our new owners being clear and open with fans, using their platform on social media to respond to rubbish posted by the press.
Regardless – we NEED to appoint someone soon!!
