NUFC set to make January bid for Brazilian striker – €15m fee unlikely to be a problem – Report

Another day, another new name linked with a January move to Newcastle United.

According to GOAL, Newcastle United are preparing to make a bid for Basel star Arthur Cabral, stating the 23-year-old could become the first signing of the Saudi regime.

The Brazilian has been in stunning form this season, scoring 25 goals in 26 games for the Swiss giants.

It’s claimed we have already held talks with the player’s entourage at the end of November, with an official proposal expected to arrive ‘in the coming days’.

GOAL report that Basel will demand a fee in the region of €15m for Cabral’s signature, and say our new owners are ‘willing to offer something close’ to the asking price set.

The striker scored 20 goals last season and has represented Brazil at U23 level. He stands 6ft 1′ tall and is believed to be on the radar of West Ham and Barcelona.

  1. That must be a straight 1,000 players Newcastle have been linked with since the takeover 😆

  2. Just make it up as they go along!
The only thing that makes sense is relegation rivals will probably not sell anybody to us, and very few quality players, unless they are mercenaries will want to join a relegation battle.
January for that reason will be interesting.
Our best chance is for Eddie to organise and coach what we have because Bruce didn’t know how to.
