Alan Shearer names unsung hero from 1-0 win v Burnley in Premier League team of the week

Alan Shearer has named Jamaal Lascelles in his Premier League team of the week.

After sitting out last week’s 1-1 draw with Norwich through suspension, the skipper returned to the side for Saturday’s must-win clash with Burnley.

It was a controversial call from Howe, with many frustrated to see Federico Fernandez named on the bench once again, however it was soon justified as Lascelles went on to put in a colossal display at the back.

He won 11 aerial duels – the most of any player over the latest round of Premier League fixtures – kept Chris Wood quiet all afternoon and made several key clearances to guide us to our first clean sheet of the season in a 1-0 win.

Few have praised the 28-year-old since Saturday, with the likes of Joelinton, Callum Wilson and Jamal Lewis gaining the most credit for their performances, but his inclusion in Shearer’s team of the week is fully deserved.

Here’s his TOTW in full, showing Lascelles alongside the likes of Son, Mount and Bernardo Silva:
