Journalist claims NUFC are now looking to sign Tottenham defender on loan

Joe Rodon is the latest name being linked with a January move to Newcastle United.

This comes from journalist Ekrem Konur, who reports that the centre-back is keen to leave Tottenham next month in search of regular game time.

A loan move has been touted, with Konur claiming that both ourselves and West Ham are showing interest in the 6ft 4′ Welsh international.

The 24-year-old completed an £11m move from Swansea last October and played 19 times in all competitions during his first season at Spurs.

He then played every minute for Wales in their run to the last 16 of EURO 2020, however he’s struggled for game time since returning to Tottenham, playing just once in the Premier League all season and appearing to be well down the pecking order under Antonio Conte.

Given Daniel Levy was one of the biggest opposers to the Saudi-backed takeover on Tyneside, I wouldn’t be all that surprised if he refuses to do business with us next month.

With two domestic loans available to Howe and us in dire need of new centre-back options, he could be worth pursuing if the likes of Tarkowski and Ake prove unattainable.
