Newcastle now ‘serious’ about signing these TWO players in January – Fabrizio Romano

Fabrizio Romano claims Newcastle are eyeing January moves for Lille centre-back Sven Botman and Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard.

Writing for The Guardian, he claims that we are ‘seriously’ interested in both, with the winter window giving our new owners their first opportunity to improve a squad in dire need of reinforcements.

Toon fans are desperate to see quality arrivals at St James’ Park to boost our hopes of Premier League survival – which appear to be fading if Sunday’s 4-0 defeat at Leicester was anything to go by.

Romano – a world renowned journalist who often appears on Sky Sports – reports that Lille’s Botman is a ‘priority target’ as Eddie Howe looks to strengthen a leaky defence.

The piece claims Lille could demand as much as £40million for the highly-rated 21-year-old due to their participation in the last 16 of the Champions League, with AC Milan also said to be keen.

Lingard, on the other hand, looks set to leave at a cut-price fee as he enters the final six months of his current deal. The England international has not started a game for Man Utd and his days look increasingly numbered at Old Trafford.

Ralf Rangnick may be keen to cash in while he can, or risk losing him for NOTHING at the end of the campaign.
