Newcastle now ‘interested’ in signing 6ft 4′ defender after club activate €3m clause – Report

According to reports in Germany, Newcastle are taking a keen interest in giant Greek centre-back Konstantinos Mavropanos.

The 24-year-old left Arsenal over the summer to join Stuttgart on loan for the 2021/22 season – a deal which includes an option to sign the defender for just €3m.

Now, German outlet BILD report that the Bundesliga side will look to make good money on Mavropanos as soon as they’ve signed him on a permanent deal, claiming they’ve received interest from Newcastle United, Borussia Dortmund and West Ham.

The 6ft 4′ centre-back has impressed at both ends of the pitch since arriving at the club, being an aggressive defender who has scored an outstanding four goals in 13 games this season – highlighting how dangerous he’s been from set pieces.

BILD report that Stuttgart will look to make a quick profit by demanding a fee in the region of £21m for the Greece international over the summer.
