Newcastle set to launch £30m bid & loan-to-buy offer for two England internationals – Report

Newcastle are set to launch bids to sign Kieran Trippier and Dele Alli in January, according to the Northern Echo.

Starting with Trippier, they report that we are now ‘increasingly confident’ the right-back will arrive at St James’ Park next month.

It’s said we are set to submit a £30m bid for the England international – which should tempt Atletico Madrid into a sale – and offer the 31-year-old a deal worth £150,0000-per-week.

The Northern Echo also claim that a relegation clause could be inserted into Tripper’s contract that allows him to leave for a pre-arranged sum should we fail to beat the drop.

As for Alli, it’s reported that we are ready to offer the forgotten Spurs midfielder a chance to resurrect his career on Tyneside.

Scott Wilson’s piece states that we will push for a loan deal that includes an option to sign the 25-year-old on a permanent deal should we remain a Premier League club next summer.

Elsewhere, the same article insists that we are still determined to pull off the signing of Lille centre-back Sven Botman – despite the fact it could be a hard sell after the Dutchman’s current side recently made it through to the last 16 of the Champions League.

Here’s what Howe had to say when quizzed on the Trippier rumours this morning:

“I won’t be commenting on any individual players.

“There could be one or two players that can help the squad but I don’t think that should be our main focus.

“That main focus has to be getting more out of the players that we already have here.”

  1. Not sure about Trippier-not because of his age but the amount of the deal/wages. He has played 10 times for England this year whilst playing for a Spanish club so not exactly past his best. Guess if we cannot get some-one of the same class will have to go for it-it’s not like under Ashley when anyone over 26 is old!!

  2. Dele Alli, another Joe Willock.
And, you can expect the top sic club (ha ha) to rip us off.
I wasn’t overly impressed with Trippier playing for AM or his defensive qualities for England but 100% better than the goons we have along the back four.
