Following a 3-1 defeat at Anfield on Thursday night, we face another tough test today as league leaders Man City come to town.
The team news has arrived ahead of the 2pm kick off at St James’ Park. seeing us line up as follows:
STARTING 11: Dubravka – Murphy, Lascelles, Clark, Ritchie – Hayden, Willock – Joelinton, Almiron, Fraser – Wilson.
SUBS: Darlow, Schar, Hendrick, Krafth, Anderson, Saint-Maximin, Gayle, S Longstaff, White.
So, Eddie Howe has made FIVE changes from Thursday, seeing Clark, Murphy, Willock, Almiron and Wilson replace Schar, Manquillo, Lewis, Shelvey and Saint-Maximin.
Elsewhere, Jonjo Shelvey and Javier Manquillo are missing from the squad, while Federico Fernandez (thigh), Jamal Lewis (hamstring) and Paul Dummett (calf) are out with injuries. Youngsters Elliot Anderson and Joe White have also been named on the bench in their absence.
Here’s how Pep Guardiola’s sky blues line up, seeing Joao Cancelo return to City’s starting 11:
Man City XI: Ederson, Cancelo, Dias (C), Laporte, Zinchenko, Rodrigo, De Bruyne, Bernardo, Mahrez, Jesus, Sterling
SUBS: Steffen, Stones, Ake, Gundogan, Grealish, Fernandinho, Foden, Palmer, Wilson-Esbrand
