Newcastle set to sign Kieran Trippier if these TWO conditions are met in January – Report

The Mail have revealed two conditions Atletico Madrid will insist on in order to sanction Kieran Trippier’s proposed move to Newcastle United next month.

They claim that Diego Simeone will reluctantly allow him to leave if the club can secure a January replacement at right back, while the La Liga giants are also holding out for a £15m fee.

Initial reports suggested the Spaniards would demand £25-£30m for the England international, however it’s said they’ve reduced their asking price – previously set at £21m last summer – now he’s approaching the final six months of his contract.

It’s said that the 31-year-old has already made his mind up over a return to England, with the piece suggesting a move to St James’ Park looks set to go through if Atletico secure a replacement and receive an offer matching their £15m asking price from our new owners.

Here’s a reminder of what Trippier told The Mail when asked about his future just two months ago:

“I know what I have come here to do and I’ve done it.

“I would love to play in the Premier League again.

With us backed by big money and in dire need of defensive reinforcements, this fee will surely not be a problem, so let’s just hope Simeone is handed a replacement ASAP.

After all, we could do with January recruits arriving immediately based on the string of mammoth fixtures coming up next month, with us set to face Southampton, Watford and Leeds over the first three weeks of January.

  1. Wouldn’t there be some kind of a requirement to meet Trippier’s wage demands, making it 3 conditions?
