NUFC handed survival boost as relegation rivals suffer hammer blow on Saturday afternoon

Newcastle’s survival hopes were boosted this afternoon thanks to some late drama at Vicarage Road.

Relegation rivals Watford looked set to secure their first clean sheet of the season and see out a 0-0 draw with Spurs in today’s 3pm kick off, however a 97th minute goal from Davinson Sanchez saw Claudio Ranieri’s side lose 1-0 at the death.

The result means Watford remain just two points ahead of us in the table, with this being one of their games in hand on Eddie Howe’s Newcastle.

Interestingly, the game also saw star man Emmanuel Dennis taken off at half-time, however it remains to be seen if he’s picked up an injury ahead of the Hornet’s trip to St James’ Park in two weeks time.

Here’s how the bottom section of the Premier League table looks after the result:

Watford look woefully out of sorts and will arrive on Tyneside in awful form in a fortnight’s time.

Let’s hope we can take advantage!
