New Kieran Trippier claims: Bargain fee revealed as player misses Tuesday training session

It looks like Kieran Trippier is on his way to Tyneside after missing training with Atletico Madrid this morning, and it seems he could arrive for considerably less than initially reported.

Despite widespread reports stating yesterday that he looked set to sign for around £25m, The Mail’s Craig Hope has now revealed that the fee could be ‘in the region of £12m.’

The 31-year-old may be out of contract this summer as things stand, but this would be a real steel; even if that deal is expected to include add-ons.

Elsewhere, it’s perhaps even more promising to hear the he wasn’t involved in Atletico Madrid’s training session on Tuesday morning.

Spanish reporter Javi Gomez has confirmed that the England international was nowhere to be seen today, suggesting he really is on his way to St James’ Park after appearing to ‘wave goodbye’ to Atleti fans in a Sunday night win over Rayo Vallecano:
