Newcastle hope French international will now follow Trippier to Tyneside – The Telegraph

It looks like Kieran Trippier isn’t the only quality full-back Newcastle United are looking to bring in this month…

As revealed by The Telegraph late last night, the club plan to turn their attentions to Everton left-back Lucas Digne once Trippier has completed a £12m move to St James’ Park.

The Frenchman looks set to leave Goodison Park in the coming weeks, with the Toffees already replacing the 28-year-old with Dynamo Kiev’s Vitaliy Mykolenko following his fall out with former Toon boss Rafa Benitez.

As a result, North-East reporter Luke Edwards claims that we are hoping to see a move for Digne ‘progress quickly’, although Sky Sports reckon we’re facing competition from West Ham and Chelsea.

The same piece also states that Eddie Howe is planning to bring in SIX new faces, with him hoping to see a left-back, two centre-backs, a central midfielder and a striker to follow Kieran Trippier’s arrival.

One other name mentioned in the piece is Sevilla’s Diego Carlos, with The Telegraph reporting that we are considering a bid for the Brazilian centre-back if Lille continue to stand firm on Sven Botman.

Back to Digne, it really would be some start to the transfer window if we brought in both him and Trippier, giving us two full-backs who are not only proven at Premier League level, but possess real quality on the ball; both in open play and from dead ball situations.
