Newcastle have launched a bid to sign Everton’s Lucas Digne, as revealed by Sky Sports late on Wednesday night.
Keith Downie has confirmed that the bid is a player plus cash proposal, with us offering £22.5m and Sean Longstaff.
However, Sky’s North-East reporter states that Digne isn’t currently sold on a move to St James’ Park due to our current predicament in the Premier League table.
Chelsea and West Ham are also believed to be interested in the left-back, who looks set to leave Merseyside this month following a fallout with Rafa Benitez.
As for Longstaff, he’s out of contract in the summer, down the midfield pecking order under Eddie Howe, having only started once since he took the job, and is someone Rafa Benitez rated highly during his time on Tyneside.
It makes sense to include him in our offer, however it may mean nothing if Digne has no interest in making the move.
