“No way. Not even an option” – Journalist claims player has rejected January move to NUFC

Last night, The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards reported that Newcastle have turned their attention to Lucas Digne now a move for Kieran Trippier is all but done.

However, a pretty damning update on our pursuit of the unsettled Frenchman has just arrived from renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano in the last few moments.

He claims that Newcastle are ‘not even an option’ for the Everton left-back, stating there is ‘no way’ he will end up at St James’ Park this month – despite the fact he is ‘likely’ to end up at another Premier League club.

This comes after Sky Sports also confirmed our interest in the 28-year-old earlier today, claiming ourselves, West Ham and Chelsea had all been quoted an asking price of £30m.

Here’s what Romano has had to say just a matter of hours later, suggesting Digne has no interest in joining Newcastle United:

Interestingly, North-East reporter Luke Edwards – the man who broke news of our interest in Digne last night – has had this to say in response:

Not one to argue with Fabrizio but #nufc have asked the question. The player is assessing his options and will take his time. This sounds like #nufc aren’t very attractive option to him. Let’s wait and see. If he’s reluctant though I’d just move on to another target.’

So, it seems we’ve made enquiries but may not have received the response we were looking for?

It remains one to watch, however I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s holding out for better offers given our current predicament in the Premier League table.

  1. Digne is the last player we want with an attitude like that, if Fabrizio Romano is to be believed !
