‘Breaking news’ on talkSPORT – Newcastle United have £25m bid for Brazilian rejected

According to some ‘breaking news’ emerging from talkSPORT, Newcastle United have had a £25m bid rejected for Sevilla centre-back Diego Carlos.

They report that the La Liga side were quick to turn down our offer, stating it could take as much as £40m to bring the Brazilian to St James’ Park this month.

This comes after the club had a £30m bid for Lille’s Sven Botman rejected earlier this week, with the French side determined to keep a hold of the 21-year-old.

Yesterday, The Telegraph reported that Carlos has been identified as a potential alternative to the Dutchman, as the recruitment team on Tyneside are believed to be big admirers of the defender – known for his aggression and athleticism – who helped Sevilla to Europa League glory just a few years ago.

Interesting, Luke Edwards (The Telegraph) also wrote last night that a formal move would be made for Carlos if we failed with our second bid for Botman, making today’s ‘breaking news’ potentially telling.

This is talkSPORT after all – a platform that specialise in riling fans up and down the country for the sake of a few views – however The Athletic have since confirmed that talks with Sevilla are continuing after we had a bid rejected for the Brazilian…

  1. Pay the money for these two players and get it over and done with, we need decent players so just stop dithering about, just do it, it’s affordable
