Newcastle launch double bid for two top CB’s: Monaco star a back-up option – The Athletic

Newcastle United are attempting to sign BOTH Lille’s Sven Botman and Sevilla star Diego Carlos, according to The Athletic.

The report states that Eddie Howe is eager to strengthen his defensive options by landing TWO top-class centre-backs this month.

Botman is believed to be the ‘top target’, with us waiting to hear back from Lille after submitting an improved second offer for the Dutchman, however the same piece states that we have also stepped up our efforts to sign Carlos.

Interestingly, the report names Monaco’s Benoit Badiashile as the back-up option if a bid for Botman fails, with the towering 20-year-old another left-sided centre-back who’s been impressing in Ligue 1 recently.

The Athletic believe that Carlos may prove easier to sign than Botman, as Sevilla are more receptive than Lille to agreeing a deal at the right price, however they insist Newcastle won’t be paying over the odds for the 28-year-old.

Lille are believed to be ‘fighting hard’ to keep Botman at the club, yet it’s been reported by several outlets that the 21-year-old is keen to seal a move to St James’ Park.

  1. The technixal team is working very ahead of time. As we are facing less heave weight teams in the leauge . we must fight very hard to start winning. so we can push up before facing heavy weight again.
