Sven Botman drops hint on social media as Sky Sports make confusing claim after second bid

Sven Botman is at it again on Instagram.

Not only did he ‘like’ a picture confirming Kieran Trippier’s move to Newcastle United earlier this week, the 21-year-old has now been spotted liking a photoshopped image of him wearing a Newcastle United shirt.

This comes from an Instagram post revealing the news – broken by The Athletic earlier today – that Newcastle have submitted an improved bid for the Lille centre-back, with the post also referencing David Ornstein’s claim that the Dutchman is ‘keen’ to sign for the club.

Sky Sports have now followed up on that initial story from The Athletic, confirming that we have indeed launched a second offer for the Ligue 1 star, however their ‘update’ comes with a slight confusion.

It had been widely reported that our initial bid for Botman was £30m, which was rejected by Lille. Yet, Sky Sports’ Keith Downie is now claiming that Lille are demanding ‘in excess of £25m.’

Given this short of our initial bid that’s already been knocked back, it makes you wonder what asking price really has been set by Lille…or whether journalists got it wrong with claims our first offer was as high as £30m?

Nevertheless, here’s the player himself liking an Instagram post of him in a black and white shirt, offering yet another hint that he’s keen to join Trippier on Tyneside!
