Newcastle launch surprise move to sign striker from relegation rivals – Player keen – Report

Newcastle have made an approach to sign striker Chris Wood from relegation rivals Burnley, according the The Telegraph.

The report states that we are ‘pushing hard’ to make the deal happen this week, also claiming that the 30-year-old is ‘keen’ on a move to St James’ Park.

It’s said that Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah and Liverpool’s Divock Origi are also options being explored, with the club bidding to bring in TWO strikers after Callum Wilson was ruled out for eight weeks last night.

The Telegraph have revealed that we are also hoping to bring in a centre-back in time for next weekend’s crucial clash with Watford.

Wood has bagged 50 goals in 153 Premier League appearances, also scoring 27 times in 59 appearances for New Zealand.

He could bring experience and proven ability at this level, with him getting into double figures in each of his last four seasons at Turf Moor.

Burnley will surely put up a fight for their star striker, especially now he is being targeted by a direct relegation rival.

  1. Considering the position we are in don’t think it’s a bad shout if true knows the league give us a different option plus you would weaken a rival because thats the unfortunate position we are in
