Newcastle attempting to hijack Lucas Digne’s proposed move to Aston Villa – Sky Sport

According to Sky Sport reporter Florian Plettenberg, Newcastle United have made a late attempt to hijack Lucas Digne’s proposed move to Aston Villa.

The Frenchman is believed to be closing in on a £25m move to Villa Park, however a Monday night report claims that we have submitted an improved offer for the Everton left-back in the ‘last few hours.’

That said, the Sky journalist feels Digne’s mind may be made up, with him expected to complete his medical in the coming days at Steven Gerrard’s side.

Sky Sports reported last week that we’d launched a £22.5m player-plus-cash bid for Digne, revealing that the offer included Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff.

However, it’s since been said that the 28-year-old isn’t keen on a move to St James’ Park, being reluctant to join a side currently in the relegation zone.

So, it seems our latest offer for the full-back may be in vein, but it’s worth a try when someone of his quality is available and closing in on a move to a mid-table Villa side.

  1. More tosh, why would we try again after he has said he is not interested in joining NUFC. I’d be surprised if he has changed his mind let’s move on to other options even though we have Lewis and Dummett coming back soon. CB’s are more important with a striker or two. Hwtl
