Newcastle in ‘advanced talks’ to sign highly-rated French striker for £30m – Report

Some big claims have emerged in the last few moments on Newcastle United’s attempts to sign highly-rated French striker Hugo Ekitike.

According to Graeme Bailey – the former Sky Sports reporter now at 90min – the club are in ‘advanced talks’ over a £30m deal to bring the Reims forward to St James’ Park before Saturday’s clash with Watford.

The 19-year-old is the highest scoring teenager across Europe’s top five leagues so far this season, scoring eight goals in 17 Ligue 1.

Interestingly, this comes just prior to Sky Sports revealing that we have stepped up our interest in the striker in the ‘past half an hour’, with Dharmesh Sheth stating that we are now in talks to bring Ekitike to Tyneside.

He also stated that we want to sign TWO strikers this month, with Howe believed to want one young forward with high potential (Ekitike) to arrive alongside a more proven, experience option following news that Callum Wilson will be missing for two months.

  1. NUFC 11:
Nufc havebeen stung badly in the past with these unknown French imports, id rather sign Ivan Toney who looks a star in the making.
Stung in the past?……how many times did we ever lay out good money for a top prospect? Plenty of cheap deals for unknowns who stayed that way.
