Sky Sports claim £50m striker now on Newcastle’s radar as FIVE targets are revealed

Sky Sports have revealed FIVE names on Newcastle United’s radar as we step up our search for a striker ahead of Saturday’s huge clash with Watford.

As shared by Sky presenter’ Rob Wotton this morning (see below), it’s believed Bayer Leverkusen’s Patrik Schick, Liverpool’s Divock Origi, Zenit St Petersburg’s Sardar Azmoun, Burnley’s Chris Wood and Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke are all targets.

They report that Bayer Leverkusen have slapped a £50m price tag on Schick’s head, making that one ‘unlikely’ as things stand, however it’s no surprise they’re demanding such a fee after the Euro 2020 star has started the season with 17 goals in just 15 Bundesliga appearances.

Keith Downie also reports that we’re yet to make an approach for Wood as of yet, despite The Telegraph claiming just yesterday that we’d been in touch with Burnley over a move for the 30-year-old Kiwi.

Here’s the update in full, which claims we are ‘desperately’ trying to sign a striker after losing Callum Wilson for another two months:

Schick would be a huge statement of intent, however that seems a long shot for a whole host of reasons.

If that one can’t happen, a move for Divock Origi could make sense from our perspective, but would Liverpool really let him go during a month where Salah and Mane are missing at AFCON?

  1. Solanke and Wood are either smokescreen to other deals, or recruiting for the championship….

  2. We can only hope we can bring in a striker and players who are here to fight for the club and fans not like what we are getting lately Saturdays match as an example no heart and then walking off while ignoring our latest player to applaud the fans Its a sign of disrespect couldn’t care less attitude, thats the trouble, kiss the badge one minute then play like they have been most of the season no passion or love for the club or fans. The majority have been here to long, bad buys and not replaced just had contracts extended, now we will struggle to get rid. Like the last lot who rightly so run down their contracts on big bucks who can blame them. The new management have a task on their hands a big clear out by paying up their contracts is all they can do.The coaches should know who want to give 100% and then add the youngsters then at least we have a team that who want to fight for the club. Keep the faith hwtl
