Big claims from Italy: €30m offer rejected & NUFC ready to launch ‘shock bid’ for Beto

Late last night, The Mail’s Craig Hope revealed that Torino centre-back Gleison Bremer had emerged as target of Newcastle United’s over the ‘past 24 hours.’

Now, Torino-based outlet Corriere Granata claim that the club have had a €30m (£25m) bid ‘immediately rejected’ by the Serie A side, stating that they see the Brazilian defender as ‘untouchable’ and plan to offer him a new deal; as his current one is due to expire next summer.

This comes after a move for Sven Botman collapsed, with a deal for Benoit Badiashile also in doubt after the Monaco star suffered an injury on Sunday.

So, have we switched targets, or could he be an alternative to Sevilla’s Diego Carlos; who could be staying put after an injury to CB partner Jules Kounde?

Elsewhere, another new report from Italy is claiming that we are preparing an offer to sign highly-rated Udinese striker, Beto.

Mondo Udinese say we are in pole position to bring the 23-year-old to St James’ Park, stating that we are ready to launch a ‘shock offer’ for the 6ft 4′ striker who has bagged eight goals in 17 appearances in Serie A this season.

With the club believed to be in the market for one proven striker (Chris Wood) and another young forward with high potential (Beto or Ekitike?), this latest link could make sense.

That said, with Beto currently on loan from Portuguese side Portimonense SC, the article suggests that a summer move to Tyneside could be more likely, claiming talks could intensify in June.
