Newcastle now attempting to pull off surprise move for Bundesliga star – Report

According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle have launched an ambitious move for RB Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara.

This comes from Adrian Kajumba, who claims the club are attempting to bring the highly-rated Malian to St James’ Park – despite the fact he’s currently away at the African Cup of Nations.

Haidara is competing in AFCON as we speak, with him currently in the same Mali side as former Mag Massaido Haidara in their opening game against Tunisia (which is 0-0 at the time of writing).

The 23-year-old has been regularly linked with a move to Manchester United and could demand an eye-watering fee of around £80m, according to The Mail.

He has been at RB Leipzig for three years now, having completed a £17m move from Austrian giants RB Salzburg back in January 2019.

Since then, the versatile midfielder – who can play on the right, in central midfield or just in front of the defence – has bagged 10 goals and six assists for Leipzig, featuring in four of their Champions League games so far this season.

Haidara would be an outstanding addition who can add some much needed energy and drive to our one-paced midfield, however this feels like one to file in the highly unlikely category this month!
