‘Hearing both’ – Two ambitious loan deals now being discussed at NUFC, claims journalist

The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards has revealed that former Mag Georginio Wijnaldum and Man Utd’s Donny Van de Beek are both being discussed at Newcastle United as potential loan signings.

Interestingly, this comes after Sky Sports’ Pete Graves stated on The Transfer Talk podcast last night that Newcastle are looking to bring in a ‘marquee signing’ in midfield; and the arrival of either would be exactly that, even on loan.

Wijnaldum is believed to be unsettled at PSG and keen on a return to the Premier League, however Luke Edwards insists that he will have several offers to pick from if he does decide to leave the Ligue 1 giants this month.

As for Van de Beek, the Dutchman has been handed a surprising lack of game time since he completed a £35m move from Ajax 18 months ago, meaning a loan move away could be exactly what he needs to get his career back on track.

Edwards fears that both may end up being unattainable for Newcastle – a team currently scrapping for survival – but says ‘never say never’ to the possibility of either one arriving at St James’ Park between now and February 1st.
