Sky Sports have revealed that Chris Wood has passed his medical at Newcastle United, with personal terms ‘still ongoing’ but not expected to be a problem.
In the not so good news, Sky’s Kaveh Solhekol claims that our new improved bid for Sevilla centre-back Diego Carlos is £28m and looks set to be rejected.
He believes that the La Liga side are demanding around £40m for the Brazilian, suggesting we will have to submit yet another offer for the 28-year-old if we want to him signed before Saturday’s clash with Watford.
Back to Wood, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has revealed that the 30-year-old Kiwi passed his medical on Tyneside last night and will be announced as a Newcastle United player once personal terms over an expected two-and-a-half year deal are agreed.
Here’s what both had to say in their latest updates on Wood and Carlos:
Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol on Diego Carlos:
“This has already been reported by Jason Burt in The Telegrapgh and also talkSPORT earlier this evening, but the message I have just got is Newcastle have made a £28m bid for Sevilla defender Diego Carlos.
“Sevilla are looking for about £40m for him so I’m not sure £28m will be enough.”
Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth on Chris Wood:
“Chris Wood has passed his Newcastle medical and personal terms are still ongoing, but being finalised. They are not expected to be a problem.
“We are edging closer to the announcement of Wood as a Newcastle player.”
