Toon eyeing £15m move for ex-Arsenal talent whose brother already plays for NUFC – Report

Newcastle are considering a £15m move for ex-Arsenal youngster Stephy Mavidi, according to the Daily Mail.

The former Gunners youth product – who can play out wide or up top – is currently at Montpellier, where he has bagged six goals and three assists in 18 Ligue 1 games this season.

Brighton and Crystal Palace are also rumoured to be interested in the 23-year-old, who had an unsuccessful spell at Italian giants Juventus.

He has spent 18 months at Montpellier following a €6.5million move from Turin in June 2020. Interestingly, his younger brother, Shaun, is already on our books and has made three appearances for Peter Ramage’s U18 side.

The Mail claim that Mavidi wants a return to England after spending almost four years playing for various clubs on the continent.

Eddie Howe is believed to be keen on bolstering his attacking options despite the arrival of Chris Wood from Burnley this week, with us also being linked with moves for Nantes Ludovic Blas and Norwich’s Todd Cantwell.

Mavididi has played for England at every level up until U21, where he is yet to feature for the Young Lions, leaving DR Congo to approach him over a potential call-up.
