Our first Premier League game of 2022 and one of the biggest we’ve had in many a year! Following last week’s FA Cup defeat, we face Watford in what can only be described as a huge relegation six-pointer.
The team news has arrived ahead of the 3pm kick off at St James’ Park, seeing us line up as follows:
STARTING 11: Dubravka – Trippier, Lascelles, Schar, Dummett – Shelvey, S Longstaff, Joelinton – Fraser, Wood, Saint-Maximin.
SUBS: Darlow, Gillespie, Ritchie, Lewis, Krafth, Murphy, Almiron, Willock, Anderson.
So, Eddie Howe has made three changes from the defeat to Cambridge, with Chris Wood, Jamaal Lascelles and Paul Dummett replacing Jacob Murphy, Emil Krafth and Matt Ritchie.
This is Dummett’s first start of the season, coming after his long standing battle with a calf injury, while Jamal Lewis and Karl Darlow return to the bench.
Absent through injury are Callum Wilson (calf), Isaac Hayden (knee) and Federico Fernandez (thigh), while Ciaran Clark, Jeff Hendrick, Dwight Gayle and Freddie Woodman are missing from the squad.
Here’s how Claudio Ranieri’s Hornets will line up for today’s game:
HOWATY THE LADS!
That was a mess against Watford
WE NEED A MANAGER after watching the past few games!
This is a SHAMBLES with player’s like Wood on par with Fraser = WE NEED QUALITY and NOT Championship players in
After seeing this farce at St James and then hearing Howe go on about ‘WE missed chances – HOLD ON – Watford were FAR the better team and even if both teams took their chances WE would have been beaten 6-2
ACTION needs to happen NOW – we need to get rid of Howe & Jones – Howe is only focused on Fraser and Joelington – at the expense of the TEAM
We still have an outside chance of staying up BUT ONLY if we get shot of Howe – this is comical
