Lille speak out on Botman’s future & NUFC have ‘€40m bid’ rejected for yet another target

It doesn’t look like Sven Botman will be arriving at Newcastle United this month.

After having two bids rejected for the Dutchman, Lille president Olivier Letang has now revealed that the 22-year-old will stay with the Ligue 1 side until the end of the season.

He insists that Botman is a ‘key player’ for the club, with them bidding to qualify for Europe once again this season and facing Chelsea in the knockout stages of the Champions League.

The defender has regularly been described as our top centre-back target, however it seems he’s going nowhere and is not for sale.

Here’s what Letang has had to say earlier today:

“Sven Botman will stay here until the end of the season.

“He’s not gonna leave the club – he’s key player to help us achieve our goals.”

Elsewhere, French outlet Foot Mercato are reporting that we’ve had a bid ‘in excess of €40m’ rejected for Monaco’s Benoit Badiashile.

The 6ft 4′ defender picked up an injury last weekend, however it’s emerged since then that we are still pursuing a deal for the highly-rated 20-year-old.

  1. Olly, mate. After that Lascelles performance today we will get one of our targets.

If we have to up the offer by 10 mil then so be it.

Lascelles needs to be sent to Norwich or Watford to weaken one of our relegation rivals.

  2. His he really worth all this grief, pick a player who wants to fight for survival enough time wasted, and he could become a show pony.

  3. FIRST WE NEED A MANAGER after watching the past few games!

This is a SHAMBLES with player’s like Wood on par with Fraser = WE NEED QUALITY and NOT Championship players in

After seeing this farce at St James and then hearing Howe go on about ‘WE missed chances – HOLD ON – Watford were FAR the better team and even if both teams took their chances WE would have been beaten 6-2

ACTION needs to happen NOW – we need to get rid of Howe & Jones – Howe is only focused on Fraser and Joelington – at the expense of the TEAM

We still have an outside chance of staying up BUT ONLY if we get shot of Howe – this is comical
