Lille speak out on Botman's future & NUFC have '€40m bid' rejected for yet another target
It doesn't look like Sven Botman will be arriving at Newcastle United this month.
After having two bids rejected for the Dutchman, Lille president Olivier Letang has now revealed that the 22-year-old will stay with the Ligue 1 side until the end of the season.
He insists that Botman is a 'key player' for the club, with them bidding to qualify for Europe once again this season and facing Chelsea in the knockout stages of the Champions League.
The defender has regularly been described as our top centre-back target, however it seems he's going nowhere and is not for sale.
Here's what Letang has had to say earlier today:
“Sven Botman will stay here until the end of the season.
"He’s not gonna leave the club - he’s key player to help us achieve our goals.”
Elsewhere, French outlet Foot Mercato are reporting that we've had a bid 'in excess of €40m' rejected for Monaco's Benoit Badiashile.
The 6ft 4' defender picked up an injury last weekend, however it's emerged since then that we are still pursuing a deal for the highly-rated 20-year-old.
