Sevilla ready to accept defeat over Diego Carlos’ proposed move to NUFC – The Guardian

According to The Guardian, Sevilla have now accepted defeat in their attempts to keep Diego Carlos at the club, with the Brazilian now closing in on a move to St James’ Park.

North-East correspondent Louise Taylor claims that Carlos has been successful in his bid to force through a move to Newcastle, with the two clubs now in ‘advanced talks’ over a deal in the region of £30m.

She reports that we’ve had two offers rejected by the La Liga side up until now, however it seems the Spaniards have caved in and agreed to sanction a sale now the 28-year-old handed in an official transfer request on Tuesday night.

As a result, The Guardian believe that the Brazilian should sign on Tyneside well before Friday’s 12pm deadline, meaning he’s in line for his Newcastle United debut ahead of Saturday’s crucial trip to Leeds.

Carlos would be Eddie Howe’s third signing and could take our January spending up to just shy of £70m should the fee be around the £30m mark, with us paying £12m for Kieran Trippier and £25m for Chris Wood so far this month.

It’s not done yet, but it looks increasingly likely that Diego Carlos will be a Newcastle United player in the coming days!
