Two deals now ‘close’ – Diego Carlos and mystery name kept under wraps by NUFC – Report

The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards has released an intriguing Tuesday morning transfer update, claiming that TWO players are ‘close’ to signing for Newcastle United.

He admits that one of those is Sevilla’s Diego Carlos, stating that the centre-back is ‘edging closer’ to a move to St James’ Park.

However, the second name has been kept under wraps by the club, with the North-East reporter hinting that a ‘surprise’ arrival may be on the way.

Edwards states that senior officials at Newcastle United have told The Telegraph that we’ve been ‘working around the clock’ to secure their top targets, knowing the importance of a boost – both on and off the pitch – ahead of Saturday’s trip to Leeds.

Here’s what he’s had to say in his latest transfer update for Toon fans:

So, Carlos closing in on a big money move from Spain to St James’, and it seems he may not be the only one.

Fingers crossed, folks!

  1. I think Newcastle need to get new scouts. All the player’s we a mostly looking at are moving on in age. Most will come for that last big pay packet.Woods is a fine example.25 million?Must be out of their minds

  2. Luke Edwards was always by far the best informed jour a list when he worked for the local media and he was the first to mention both Trippier and Wood. I’m sure he will be proved correct again. Also good news that Fernandez is nearing fitness…. far and away the best centre back currently on our books. At least one new centre back, a midfield enforcer and a quality mobile striker would make it a very good window for the Toon. Here’s hoping???
