Another day, another name linked with a January move to Newcastle United, with The Mail reporting that we are now in talks to sign highly-rated left-back Mitchel Bakker.
The 21-year-old only joined Bayer Leverkusen last summer, completing an £8.5m move from PSG, however the report claims we are willing to offer the Bundesliga a ‘quick profit.’
Bakker – a product of the Ajax academy – stands 6ft 1′ tall and is a current Dutch U21 international, seeing him play alongside fellow Toon target Sven Botman on the international scene.
Prior to his move to Germany, he was actually a regular in PSG’s side during Thomas Tuchel’s time at the club, featuring 40 times in all competitions for the Ligue 1 giants last season; often as an attacking left wing-back.
Since moving to Bayer Leverkursen, he’s shown his ability to get forward, bagging a goal and three assists in 12 starts for his new club.
