Howe eyeing FIVE more signings as club plan to complete several late deals – The Telegraph

According to The Telegraph, Eddie Howe still hoping to bring in up to FIVE new signings over the final week of the transfer window.

With deadline day set to arrive a week tomorrow and one two players signed so far, Luke Edwards reports that the NUFC boss wants two centre-backs, a left-back, a central midfielder and another attacking player.

The piece also reveals that Joelinton looks to have picked up a ‘nasty-looking’ thigh injury in yesterday’s 1-0 win at Leeds, meaning the club will step up their search for a box-to-box midfielder over the coming days.

As for some of the names who could arrive, The Telegraph state that NUFC will ‘throw everything’ at a deal for Jesse Lingard; and even claim that there was ‘growing confidence’ over the weekend that he could yet arrive at St James’ Park.

Dele Alli is named as a back-up option to the Man Utd midfielder, while Leicester City’s Hamza Choudhury is another player being considered.

As revealed last night, it seems a deal for Bayern Leverkusen’s Mitchel Bakker could also go through, with Edwards stating that the left-back’s move to Tyneside is ‘edging closer.’

Our pursuit of Sevilla’s Diego Carlos is remains ongoing and clearly isn’t dead yet, but The Telegraph suggest that moves could be made for Feyenoord’s Marcos Senesi or Monaco’s Benoit Badiashile if we end our pursuit of the 28-year-old Brazilian.

So, we have just over a week to do business but a LOT of work to do, especially if Howe is going to get anywhere near the five new signings he wants.

Bakker appears to be the closest, while it seems that we have back-up options ready to pursue if moves for Lingard and Carlos do fall completely flat.

Fingers crossed, folks!
