Another Premier League manager sacked – Steve Bruce now surely the obvious replacement?

Watford are at it again. Just a few months after sacking Xisco Munoz, The Athletic have revealed that Claudio Ranieri has now lost his job.

The writing was on the wall for the Italian after they were beaten 3-0 by relegation rivals Norwich on Friday night – a result which has left them second bottom of the Premier League following our 1-0 win at Leeds on Saturday.

He picked the club up in 14th back in October and has left them in 19th, managing just seven points in 13 games in charge.

So, who do Watford turn to next? The bookies reckon Fabio Cannavaro, Frank Lampard and Paulo Fonseca could be considered, but it’ll be interesting to see if Steve Bruce’s name is thrown into the hat!

After all, so many believed he ‘worked miracles’ to keep this Newcastle United side in the league last season and is currently out of work…

Surely his name will be high up on the Pozzo’s priority list given how highly-rated he seemed to be amongst so called ‘experts’ during his time on Tyneside?!

It’ll certainly be ‘interesting’ to see who takes charge at Vicarage Road now they are looking for their THIRD manager of the season!

Here’s the full list of Premier League casualties so far this season, with Ranieri’s sacking taking the total up to eight:

  • Xisco Munoz (Watford) – October 3, 2021
  • Steve Bruce (Newcastle) – October 20, 2021
  • Nuno Espirito Santo (Tottenham) – November 1, 2021
  • Daniel Farke (Norwich City) – November 6, 2021
  • Dean Smith (Aston Villa) – November 7, 2021
  • Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (Manchester United) – November 21, 2021
  • Rafa Benitez (Everton) – January 16, 2022
  • Claudio Ranieri (Watford) – January 24, 2022

Here’s the Premier League table when they sacked Xisco Munoz back in October, compared to the current Premier League standings following Ranieri’s dismissal:

  1. IF Watford sign Rafa WE ARE in real trouble as everyone else have got Good Managers as we went for a nice chap but after what I’ve seen…

…just isn’t a Manager that can leave old friends out for the sake of the team…

..and only wants old player’s that he’s worked with (?)

    We need Rafa before Watford

  2. why would we want rafa back, the turgid football under him was just as bad as it was under bruce, since leaving us hes been fired twice the man is a dinosaur now with his brand of football leave him on the dole he has enough money to survive

  3. Ranieri was never much cop, he won the premiership on the back of Nigel Pearson’s work.
Mind you he is very likeable.

You fishing ? cos Rafa has shown he is well past sell by date, I wouldn’t want him back, he is the reason our football has been so negative he ingrained it that far into the players that it has been impossible to coach out, let’s not ever have him back
