Sky Sports: New Diego Carlos asking price revealed as NUFC push for double signing

According to Sky Sports, Newcastle United have been told to pay £38m (€45m) if they want to sign Sevilla’s Diego Carlos.

This comes from Sky’s Kaveh Solkehol, who reports on Monday tea-time that there’s ‘some momentum building today’ regarding our pursuit of the Brazilian.

Sevilla have played hardball throughout, rejecting our opening two offers for the 28-year-old, however this update suggests we might just be edging closer to finally getting this one done – especially when our last offer was a reported £30m.

Sky Sports state that we not only resumed talks with Sevilla today, with us looking to sign ‘at least one’ centre-back, but are also in discussions with Manchester United and ‘pushing’ to secure the signing of Jesse Lingard on loan.

They claim it will take a ‘hefty fee’ to bring him to St James’ Park, saying it’s also unclear if he wants to complete a January move to Tyneside, however it’s interesting to read that he’s currently in Dubai on a training camp of his own – meaning he’s only a short flight from our squad in Saudi Arabia if a deal was struck in the coming days.

Here’s what @SkyKaveh had to say about the Carlos deal on Monday night:
