Surprise signing on the cards, £40m bid imminent & South American ‘one to watch’ – Report

Mark Douglas has shared some intriguing transfer claims in his latest piece for i news, as Newcastle prepare for a busy end to the January window.

According to his sources at St James’ Park, there is a “potential surprise” being worked on in the background – suggesting we could end up with a big signing out of the blue between now and 11pm next Monday.

He also reports that transfer fees are expected to become more realistic now deadline day is approaching, meaning we could have more joy when it comes to agreeing deals that had dragged up until now.

Interestingly, Douglas follows talk of a ‘surprise signing’ with an intriguing line on Benfica goal-machine Darwin Nunez, saying that the highly-rated Uruguayan is ‘one to watch’ for NUFC fans.

Steve Nickson is believed to be a big fan of the 22-year-old who has bagged 20 goals in 25 games this season, with reports suggesting Duvan Zapata is only a ‘plan B’ should we fail to land Nunez.

Last but certainly not least, the same report states that we are set to launch a new and improved bid worth £40m for Diego Carlos.

Douglas says that sources close to the club believe Sevilla’s resolve will crack in the coming days. He also reveals that we are offering him a four-and-a-half year deal and DOUBLE the salary he currently receives in Spain; which might explain why he is ‘pushing’ to complete the move.

This comes after Sky Sports claimed on Monday afternoon that it will take a bid of at least £38m (€45m) to sign the Brazilian.

  1. I wouldn’t touch Dele Ali, no thanks, a punk like him would eventually upset the whole squad. He is your modern day f-up player, pissed his career away, more interested in insta, and tick tock and staying behind after training to fix the issues in his game. Himself and Paul Pogba are the reasons so many young kids are turning away from football.

I’ve heard they’re getting Carlsberg back in NINE!
    That would be a surprise!
