NUFC in ‘advanced talks’ to sign giant defender for £10m as club eye two deals in one day – Report

According to new reports, Newcastle United may be closing in on a couple of new signings today.

After he beat Sky Sports to news that Bruno Guimaraes could undergo a medical later today ahead of a £30m move from Lyon, journalist Peter O’Rourke claims we are also in ‘advanced talks’ to sign Brighton’s 6ft 7′ defender, Dan Burn.

The former ESPN reporter claims that a £10m deal is being discussed between the two clubs, with the 29-year-old believed to be keen on a return to Tyneside as a boyhood NUFC fan who was born in Blyth.

Burn was on the club’s books as an 11-year-old and has since played for Darlington, Wigan, Fulham and Brighton, with him a versatile, left-footed defender who is comfortable playing at centre-back and at left-back.

After weeks of frustration, are Newcastle United really closing in one two signings in one day? Time will tell, but it sounds like we’ve finally made some real progress!

  1. There is a limited talent available in this window(especially players with Prem experience) so we cannot afford to be precious and become snobby about who we buy in the here and now. One aim-prem survival and if a £10M versatile defender helps now so be it. Assuming survival our wish list will be higher.

  2. So you want Dan Ashworth, Yves Bissouma, Adam Webster and Dan Burn. It looks like the Saudis bought the wrong club.

  3. Everyday full of stupid speculations. Brainless gossips shared by media and journalists just for exposure with the limited news to cover during the Covid pandemic.
