Newcastle United have FINALLY agreed a deal to sign Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.
After some outlets appeared to jump the gun on Wednesday – claiming a fee had been agreed before all details had been ironed out with Lyon – the likes of Sky Sports’ Keith Downie, The Mail’s Craig Hope and The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards (see below) have now backed up talkSPORT’s ‘breaking news’, confirming that the deal is all set to go ahead.
The 24-year-old is set to undergo a medical and complete all the usual formalities in Brazil tomorrow, with him currently away on international duty.
At the time of writing, he is an unused substitute in Brazil’s World Cup qualifying clash in Ecuador – a feisty South American affair that has featured a two red cards, a host of yellows and a several tasty tackles!
It’s not yet clear how much we will pay for the midfielder, however Sky Sports are reporting that it’ll be an initial £33m deal, plus add-ons.
