Have Newcastle just launched late bid for Chelsea talent impressing out on loan?

Another day, another new name linked with a move to St James’ Park. This time it’s the turn of highly impressive Chelsea loanee, Armando Broja.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Chelsea have received a £33m bid from Newcastle for the 20-year-old striker currently on loan at Southampton.

The same piece claims that the Saints have also made an offer for the Albanian, however their bid is believed to be £25m; so £8m less than ours if the Italian outlet are to be believed.

The report goes on to say that, while both clubs remain in contact, Chelsea are expected to let him see out the remainder of his loan deal and reassess this summer.

After bagging 11 goals at Vitesse last season, Broja has shown real promise over the past six months, bagging seven goals in 21 games and putting in a host of eye-catching displays.

Not only is he tall (6ft 3′), mobile and pretty quick for a striker of his height, he’s shown impressive composure in front of goal; especially when you consider he’s still only 20.

One to watch this summer if we stay up? After all, the club are meant to be investing in the future – and we could do with a top young striker when Wilson and Wood will both be in their 30’s come the end of the season.
